Cognitive-Communicative Therapy

Cognitive-Communicative Therapy is focused on addressing challenges with memory, attention, planning, reasoning, problem-solving, and organization. Often seen with stroke, acquired brain injury, Alzheimer’s/dementia, and other neurologic disorders, cognitive deficits can impair simple life tasks such as planning a meal, paying bills, and safely taking medication.

Following a comprehensive evaluation, a typical therapy program may consist of exercises to improve cognitive functioning, including computer-based interventions. If the disorder is progressive in nature, treatment may concentrate on development of compensatory skills to maintain safety and independence in the current living setting.
